In 2 weeks from now, VivaColombia will start operations from the International Airport Jose Maria Cordova in Rionegro 45 minutes ride from Medellin.
With the support of international investors the dream of a low-cost airline took place about five years ago.
The Antioquian airline has 4 shareholders with 25% of the shares each. The shareholders are: the european hedge fund from Ryanair Irland, the mexican VivaAerobus, the Bolivar Group from Colombia and Group Fast (which is composed by 4 private investors).
The low-cost airline will have 32 routs and 21 destinations, which will be covered with 4 new Airbus320 with space for 180 passengers. Will be the first time that Medellin will have direct flights to Riohacha, Leticia, Barrancabermeja, Yopal and others.
The idea is to relieve the airport of Bogota and allow new people to travel by airplane through cheaper tickets.
The cheapest ticket will have a cost of 29.900 COP plus VAT and airport charges.
