The Agricultural Bank suspended a 3 million dollars bidding process which was seeking to purchase the technology package for the operation of the bank which goes from servers to computers.
The suspension was ordered by the President of the bank after an article that was published by El Tiempo in which the journalist that wrote the piece stated that the conditions of the bidding process were favorable to the suppliers that commercialize the Hewlett Packard equipments.
The bidding process which was suspended comprehended a computational package, which goes from software to servers and end user terminals, to maintain 750 offices and 6.000 employees online and to manage 600.000 customers who owe the bank, 8 billion pesos, and the bidding process also includes the after sales service including maintenance of equipment and software that supports the operations.
This bidding process will continue suspended until the Director of the Administrative Department of the Bank and the Anticorruption Czar (who was consulted by the President of the bank regarding the failures of the process) present their reports in order to forward a transparent bidding process with equal opportunities to all the potential providers of the services and goods required by the bank.
Nevertheless the President of the Agricultural Bank asked the two officials that the assessments made expeditiously, it could paralyze some bank operations.
