PETROBRAS FAR AWAY OF A DEAL WITH PEMEX

Even thought the last year were rumors about a possible understanding between Pemex and Petrobras, those rumors were denied.

These rumors said that Petrobras could sign an agreement of cooperation in order to start the exploration in the Mexican Gulf, but in the 9 integral contracts adjudicated by Pemex, in none of them the Brazilian company have been a contestant and not even bought the auction basis.

According to an executive of the Brazilian company, Petrobras do not contemplate any investment nor association with Pemex in the foreseeable future (and this represents at least 5 years), and also said that the lower risk contracts in Mexico, has no appeal to Petrobras, company which will be focusing their efforts in the development of oil basins in Brazil, mainly in the area of Presal.
