ECOPETROL WILL EXPLORE 6 BLOCKS IN THE UNITED STATES
The largest Latin American Company regarding its market value will be doing exploration in 6 blocks in deep waters in the United States.
The BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) governmental institution responsible for the regulation of the hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation in the sea, said that Ecopetrol made the most competitive proposal for the exploration of 6 blocks that will give to the company the authorization to explore those blocks in a period between 7 and 10 years. The proposal presented by Ecopetrol was in the framework of the Central Planning Area Lease Sale 216/222 auction that took place in New Orleans, where were 545 blocks for bid.
These 6 blocks will be added to the 42 blocks that Ecopetrol obtained during other processes in the past in the Golf Coast in the United States. Ecopetrol would increase its participation to 122 blocks in this prospective area for the hydrocarbon exploitation.
According to Ecopetrol, the formal award will be done in the next few weeks when the BOEM finishes the revision of the required conditions in order to get the blocks for which they made the bid.
