CANADA COULD INCREASE THE LISTING OF COMPANIES IN THE BVC.
Currently there are 39 canadian companies with operations in colombian territory, and of those companies a few could follow the steps of other canadian companies that are listed in the BVC.
Is worth mention that BVC is the spanish acronym for the Colombian Stock Exchange Market, and in this stock market there are a few canadian companies that are listed on this public market.
In the Toronto Stock Exchange Market there are 400 companies in the energy, oil and mining sector, of those 400 around 10% has operations in Latin America, and of those 40 companies, 24 currently has operations in Colombia, so the colombian market has become a very interesting market for the canadian companies.
One of the canadian companies listed is Pacific Rubiales, the second largest oil company of Colombia, and one of the most important companies in the BVC because its daily transaction volume is high.
Currently there are 5 companies listed in both stock exchange markets, those companies are Ecopetrol, Pacific Rubiales, Petrominerales, Canacol and Tuscany; all 5 of the oil sector.
In that order of ideas the FTA with Canada is presenting new business opportunities for the canadian investment funds, and Colombia is a great pleace to invest. At the moment the relations between the countries is being forwarded by strengthen the regulatory framework of the FTA in order to impulse the investment in the Colombian market.
