The colombian coffee roaster and marketer, which currently is an asset of the Costa Rican company Mesoamerica, is seeking to growth in the domestic market.
The strategy is based on the opening of coffee bars across the country. The company already has started with this project by an association with Grupo Exito, they have coffee bars in every Exito Supermarket in the city of Medellin. The new president of the company, said that they already had 12 bars in Medellin, but this will allow them to expand their brand and to get a large market share.
They are going to invest 3.000 million COP in order to open more than 100 bars in the countryin two years, currently they have 181 bars and restaurants. One of the new bars will be in the International Airport El Dorado in Bogota, after winning a tender.The investment will be made with the resources of the company.They will not issue bonds or make any placement of shares in the public market. The cash flow of the company allows them to invest strong in the expansion plan of the business in Colombia.
They are also biding for an international tender, in order to be able to produce coffee to a multinational fast food company with its own name, like the production that they are destinating to Grupo Exito and other retail companies.
With this expansion plan the company is forecasting a 20% growth on sales, by surpasing the 95.000 million COP, with an increase in the human resources area of 100 or 150 new members of the OMA team.
